Adventures of the
last few years
New outfitters, new species, new memories — and a tip of the hat to the gear and partners that have made it possible.
For those who have seen my web site in the past, I am making some updates which are long overdue. Between hunting and earning money to hunt, I have been kept pretty occupied. In the last few years I have been hunting with several new outfitters. This has afforded me the opportunity to meet and hunt with some really great people, see some spectacular new areas, and harvest some remarkable animals.
I know personally all of the outfitters listed on my website and know they offer the best possible hunt for your hard-earned money. Lately I have been organizing hunts for gun hunters as well as bow hunters and I promise you complete honesty from both the outfitters and myself. I will answer any questions you may have — type of hunt, opportunities for shots, quality of game, numbers of animals you can expect to see, food, accommodations, and more.
Other than what Mother Nature may dish out, you will be very accurately prepared for what to expect on your hunt. If you are interested in joining us for a bow hunt — or if you would like my help in setting up your own bow, rifle, or blackpowder hunt — give me a shout: (801) 319-3289 or send a message.
Twenty years of evolution
I have enjoyed the last 20 years of bowhunting and I have watched and been involved with the evolution of bowhunting equipment. The products I endorse, I use under every type of hunting condition you can imagine — in some of the most adverse weather and on some of the toughest animals in the world. I strongly feel I am using the best equipment on the market.
I would like to thank Pete Shepley and PSE Archery for the opportunity to shoot his bows. It is a privilege to talk with him about bows and hunting. The PSE staff are extremely helpful and share their vast knowledge to make sure I have the right setup for the different animals I pursue.
The right shaft, the right head
Rocket Broadheads are truly engineering the future for bowhunting. Their products are the most accurate and get the best penetration of any broadhead on the market. They have worked flawlessly on every animal taken to date — including a 2,000-pound buffalo.
Rick McKinney's Carbon Tech arrows have out-flown and out-penetrated every other arrow shaft I've tried. For a recent Cape Buffalo hunt that included Hippo and Crocodile I shot a specially weighted Carbon Tech shaft tipped with a Rocket Aerohead.
I would like to thank all the other manufacturers listed on my site for their great equipment, and all the outfitters listed for giving me memories that will last the rest of my life.
It's not just about the harvest
Bowhunting is a complete experience and not just about harvesting an animal. For every animal taken there are at least 20–50 stalks that don't work out. I have returned to camp or home without game many more times than with game. If it were easy and guaranteed, it wouldn't be any fun.
I hope you can get some useful information here — both on hunts and equipment. I'm always interested in hearing your comments, or in helping you set up the hunt of a lifetime.
Good hunting.
